Ask a question

This poster was designed by the wonderful Bjorn Wiinblad, and is titled "Det NY Teater Kameliadamen " which I translate as " The new Theater Lady of the Camellias", Det Ny Teater is an established theatre in Copenhagen. I believe the poster was produced in the late 1950s. And was Exhibited at the first George Jensen exhibition in New York in 1959.
This wonderful poster was also produced in smaller sizes and as a lithograph, this, however, is the full-sized serigraph (Screen printed) version, produced in wonderful olive colour. And is therefore incredibly rare.

The poster is in very good condition, for its age, there are 3 small tears to the border, 2 are less than 1cm, and do not go over the border so these should be easily hidden when framed. The other tear to the border is a little longer (3cm,) but is not visible to the front of the poster, so again should not be a problem once framed. There is also a little discolouration, again to the right-hand side of the border, which again is age-related.
Created on heavyweight paper, screen printed, the print has a matte finish to the surface.
Measuring (95.3 cm x 61.5 cm), this is a large sized poster.

If you're looking for more Bjorn Wiinblad posters I have a large collection in my Etsy shop.
Wiinblad produced hundreds of designs and worked with ceramics, bronze, textiles, and of course, his amazing posters, which he produced, for the Olympic games and the Royal Danish Ballet, and many other projects both in Denmark and America.
